Isn’t it funny how we see some tasks as little and some as big? What makes them so? Is it found in the difficulty? The length of time it takes to complete the task? The profundity of the outcome? I don’t think God desciminates between little and big. What instead he wants and desires is the obedience. The success itself is found in the obedience. He calls us to be faithful and obedient in ALL of it.
Think of a well trained horse. We don’t ever want to belittle the tiniest of obediences. We want to celebrate them and encourage them. That is what makes a horse “soft”. “Softness” is obedience in the finest degree. It is obedience without any resistance. “Softness” is how it feels when a whisper gets a yielding response.
What is God calling you to be obedient to today? Are you remaining soft in His hands? Are you yielding to the tiniest communication of direction? Breathe. And release yourself into His will. There you will find life.
We should be faithful in the little things of friendship, outgoing concern for others, prayer and knowledge of God. Take time each day to do the little things that are pleasing to God. This positive side of the sword reveals how we get better little by little. Show patience and kindness, self-control and diligence. These are some little things that allow us to become more like our Heavenly Father ( Matthew 5:48
